Hello again fellow craft lovers! Today I am here to share a beautiful project that was made with Tape Technologies transparent glitter vinyl. It is absolutely gorgeous stuff, and very easy to cut and apply (even for a klutz like me!)
To show off the transparency at its best, I decided to use a clear glass hurricane lamp as my base. This one I believe I bought from Walmart, and cost around $4.00.
My theme this month is Mermaids, so I wanted to add fish scales to the bottom of the glass to create a mermaid tail feeling. I created my own SVG cut file from a free image online. (You can find it here). I cut the scales on my Silhouette Cameo, using the Teal transparent glitter. The scales are fairly tricky to apply, as the glass is curved at the bottom. I strongly recommend using Application Tape to do this.
Here is the lamp with all the scales applied:
Now for the lady herself! I found this beautiful mermaid cut file on the Silhouette Design store, and she was perfect to apply on the top half of my lamp. I feel that she is swimming up to the surface of the ocean! I cut the mermaid image from Sky Blue transparent glitter. (Again, use application tape to apply the cut image to your surface).
So here is the finished project! I added some glass pebbles into the bottom of the lamp, and a battery-operated candle inside. The transparent glitter vinyl really is stunning, and perfect colours for this project.
Thanks so much for joining me today on this nautical journey! What will you create with the transparent glitter?? If you do make something, be sure to share it on the Tape Technologies Facebook page, we’d LOVE to see it!

This is amazing – what a great idea and execution.
This is such a cute project. Love it.
I ADORE how this turned out! I may steal this idea for a scrapbook page, if it’s okay with you! Love Penny
I would love to see the scrapbook page!
